How to install Fabric mods
Fabric is a lightweight mod loader for Minecraft: Java Edition. With Enzonic Launcher you never copy jars by hand; the launcher installs Fabric, the mods and the mods they depend on.

Before you start
- You need Minecraft: Java Edition on a Microsoft account.
- Download Enzonic Launcher for Windows, macOS or Linux and sign in with Microsoft.
1. Create a Fabric instance
- In the Library, choose Create instance.
- Pick a Minecraft version, for example the newest release.
- Choose Fabric as the loader. The launcher installs the Fabric loader and the Java version this Minecraft version needs.
Each instance has its own mods folder, worlds and settings, so a modded instance never touches your vanilla one.
2. Find mods
Open Discover for the instance. Search Modrinth, CurseForge or both. The results only show mods that have a file for your Minecraft version and for Fabric.
Most Fabric mods need Fabric API. You do not have to look for it: it is a dependency and gets installed automatically in the next step.
3. Install the mod and its dependencies
Choose Install. Before anything is downloaded, the launcher lists the required dependencies under Also installs. Confirm, and the mod plus its dependencies are downloaded and checked against the hashes published by Modrinth or CurseForge.
Want a faster game too? Use the performance boost to add Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, ModernFix, ImmediatelyFast and Entity Culling where they exist for your version.
4. Play
Press Play. If a mod is missing a dependency, has no Fabric metadata or is made for another Minecraft version, the pre-launch check tells you before the game starts and offers a fix, such as installing the missing dependency or disabling the jar.
5. Keep mods updated
The Content tab shows which mods have updates, with the changelog in between. Update one or all of them, lock a mod you want to keep on its current version, or use Change version to go back to an older file.
Installing a jar you downloaded yourself
You can still copy a .jar into the instance's mods folder (open the instance folder from its page). Prefer the built-in search when you can: it checks the file's version and loader and brings the dependencies along.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Fabric and Forge?
They are two different mod loaders. A mod is written for one of them, so check which loader a mod supports and create an instance with that loader. Enzonic Launcher supports Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge.
Do Fabric mods work on Quilt?
Quilt can run most Fabric mods, and the launcher's checks know that. Some mods are Fabric-only; their pages say so.
Why does the game crash after I add a mod?
Usually a missing dependency or a mod for another Minecraft version. The pre-launch check catches most of these. The instance's Logs tab shows the crash report.
Can I install a whole Fabric modpack instead?
Yes. Search for modpacks in Discover, or import a .mrpack file or a CurseForge modpack zip. See mods and modpacks.
Enzonic Launcher is free for Windows, macOS and Linux. It requires Minecraft: Java Edition.
